Program Structure
This is the recommended structure of an individual mentoring-journey:
Preparation for mentoring:
✅Start by preparing yourself with the information about the mentoring program on this page.
✅Register on the platform and create your mentee profile.
✅Use the mentor search to find interesting mentors and contact one mentor of your choosing
✅Pay the membership fee of €36 to be able to contact mentors. Please note: You should only request one mentor at a time and only have one ongoing mentoring arrangement at a time. After an initial meeting, you will decide together whether to proceed with mentoring. Only if it is not a good fit can you request another mentor.
Starting the mentoring:
✅Found the right mentor? Start your mentoring journey together!
✅Meet regularly over a period of approx. 6 months and proactively work on your career goals between meetings.
✅Take advantage of additional offers from the alma mentoring program and join community events.
✅Reach out to the alma mentoring team for support at any time.
✅Celebrate your successes: Take the time to reflect on your journey and successes with your mentor. You are also warmly invited to celebrate your mentoring achievements together with other mentors and mentees at our „Celebrate“ event (held once per semester).
What is the expected time commitment for the mentoring program?
Overall duration:
To be truly effective, mentoring should take place over a longer period. The duration of an alma mentoring lasts 6 months. You can extend the mentoring to a maximum of 8 months by contacting the alma mentoring team (alma@univie.ac.at)
Individual schedule:
Once you have found your mentor, you will agree together on how often and at what intervals to meet — depending on your capacities and your personal needs.
Individual meetings:
The frequency of meetings is up to each mentoring team. Most teams meet 1–2 times per month. Be sure to also allocate some time for preparing for your meetings to get the most out of the mentoring.
How much does the mentoring program cost?
Nothing at all!
Registration and Search: The registration as well as the search for a suited mentor are free of any costs. You can use all of the platform's features after your registration.
The Mentorship: Participating in a mentor is completely free aswell. All you've got to do is to complete the application form, have a quick chat with us and if it fits, you're free to contact mentors! :)
