Your Profile Page

Your profile page has four sections:

  1. Overview
View new messages and your events at a glance as well as the "credits" you have received from activities such as mentorship meetings, posting or rating wiki articles, etc.
  2. Mentoring
As soon as you have verified your e-mail address you can specify your role as a mentor or a mentee. In the "Mentoring" section, you can later also indicate your availability as a mentor, view your current and completed mentorships and update your Mentoring Calendar for ongoing mentorships.
  3. Groups
This area will be unlocked as soon as you have been registered on the page as a mentor or a mentee. In this section, you can create, lead or join groups. Groups are mainly used for exchange outside the platform, but group members also have access to an exclusive forum and their own messaging system.
  4. My data
Upon authentication you will be asked to fill in further data required for the mentoring process. You can access this section any time to update your data.

Note:  since your name is shortened on the web page (First name N.), you will be automatically assigned an individual symbol.

Verification

To ensure the security of the website and to protect the system from abuse, the identity of all users must be clearly verified. Thus, if you indicate your availability as a mentor in the "Mentoring" section of your profile, you will be asked for authentication by uploading your ID as a jpg file.

If you lack the technical infrastructure, you can also contact us by e-mail for authentication. We will check your data and unlock your profile on the page. This can take up to one or two working days. You will be informed about the activation by e-mail. Please note that our team is available for authentication requests only Monday through Thursday. Please send your authentication requests with the following information to alma(a)univie.ac.at:

  1. (Title) first name, last name (title)
  2. Address and phone number
  3. Student ID number (if possible)
  4. Date of birth
  5. Degree programme

Your Data

You can enter your mentoring data, which mentees can search for and will be able to view, in the "My data" section of your profile.

  •  You have already entered your master data during registration.
  • Below your master data, you will find the data specific to the different mentoring areas. Please indicate for which areas you are available and fill in the required data.
  • In the "Further data on mentoring" section, you will find information that applies to all mentoring areas (e.g. what expectations you have of your mentee or whether you can offer mentoring in other languages).

Additional feature:
Translate to or from English

The alma Mentoring Platform is available in German and English. If you can offer mentorships in other languages, please indicate these in the respective text fields.

In this case we recommend that you have the text fields in your profile automatically translated into English, so that mentees whose first language is not German can contact you more easily.

This website uses the automatic translation system DeepL*. Whether you can have a text field translated or not is indicated by the respective option in the upper right corner. However, please check your data again before saving.

*We have acquired a DeepL licence to guarantee the protection of your data. All automatically translated website texts have been post-edited.

Additional Feature: Diversity and Inclusion

We want this website to be for everyone and to address all students and graduates of the University of Vienna.

For this reason, we specifically aim to reach people who belong to vulnerable or marginalised groups and are therefore all too often made invisible. In order to reflect the inclusion of all users of this website, we have added various features that you can tick if they apply to your skills set.

The "My data" section of your profile offers an essential feature for more inclusion. In the bottommost data area you can indicate additional skills and competences relating to diversity and inclusion that will add to your mentorship.

Privacy settings

At the bottom of the "My data" section, you can choose the privacy settings of your profile:

  • Allow other users to start a conversation
If you unlock this feature, a button will appear, signalling to other users who visit your profile (mentees looking for mentors, other users of groups or the forum) that they can send you a chat message.
  • Summary of notifications by e-mail
Once a day, you will automatically receive a notification of page activities that are otherwise displayed as news in the "Overview" section of your profile page (e.g. new messages or event notifications).
  • Allow cookies
If you do NOT allow cookies on the page, certain features will not be available to you. However, you will be informed as soon as you want to use these functionalities and can then give your consent.
