Why Do I Have to Pay?
alma Mentoring is an initiative of the Alumni Association of the University of Vienna and a service for its members. As a non-profit organization, the Alumni Association procures its funding from various sources and one important pillar of our funding are the contributions of our members. Without them, we would not be able to provide initiatives such as alma Mentoring.
alma Mentoring needs technical and personnel support: The alma team is available for your support, maintains and secures the platform and its server and organizes the availability of mentors.
this is why we ask alma mentees to join the Alumni Association as members for an annual fee of 36 EUR.
Please note, however, that you may use all contents and features of the alma platform – wiki, message board, groups, events – even without having a membership, until you are ready to send a mentorship-request: Only then will you be asked for a payment or one-time code. That way you will have access to information that will help you make the decision about whether you want to start a mentorship and support you beyond your mentorship.
If you are unable to pay the membership fee: Please contact the alma team. We'll find a way for you to have access to a mentorship anyway.
If you have paid the membership fee and, due to circumstances beyond your control, are unable to take up a mentorship after all, please contact the alma team to cancel your membership retroactively and get a refund for your membership fee.
I Already Have A Membership

If you pay 36 EUR/year to the Alumni Association, you can use the alma Mentoring as a service within your membership. Ask for your personal one-time access code at alma@univie.ac.at. Once you have entered the code you have full access to mentorships for one year.
If you pay a reduced fee for your membership (e.g. student members, dependents members etc.), will need to switch to a full fee membership in order to access to mentorship-requests. To do so, please contact the Alumni Association team at office.alumni@univie.ac.at
I Don't Have A Membership
You can access all contents of the alma platform and search for mentors even without being a member of the Alumni Association merely by registering. If you want to send a mentorship-request, you can pay your membership fee of 36 EUR directly via the payment system on the alma platform. This will give you instant access to sending mentorship-requests".
To activate your membership in the Alumni Association of the University of Vienna and to use all further services and benefits, you can activate a "mentoring membership" on the Alumni Association website after payment on the alma platform.
Automatic Renewal of Your Membership
For administrative reasons your membership will be automatically renewed for the following year if you have activated a "Mentoring Membership" and a notice of charges will be sent to you at the beginning of that year. You will still have the possibility of cancelling your membership at that time.
If you pay the membership fee via the alma platform and only use the alma Mentoring (i.e. if you don't activate your membership on the website of the Alumni Association), your membership will automatically end on the 31st of December.
