What is alma mentoring?

The alma mentoring program at the University of Vienna supports you on your individual career path: your personal mentor accompanies you for six months, providing targeted support for your next professional steps — even if you’re not yet sure where they are headed.

Through regular conversations, your mentor will share their personal experience and stand by your side as a source of guidance. You decide which career topics you want to focus on together.

The goal:
In the mentoring program, you will develop your personal skills and professional abilities — and, with the support of your mentor, successfully take the next steps on your individual career path.

How can mentoring help me?

Mentoring moves you forward:
In career orientation and planning
In application processes and starting your career
In taking the first steps toward self-employment
In discovering new industries and career paths
In finding your personal strengths and talents
In building a strong professional network

What makes mentoring so effective?

First-hand experience
Whether you're just starting your career or have recently graduated — your mentor has already been through this journey and can help you find the next steps that are right for you and achieve your goals.

Individual support
In addition to valuable knowledge and experience, your mentor offers personal support — through motivating impulses, thought-provoking questions, and reflective conversations.

Long-term guidance
Mentoring is a process. As many of your questions and challenges are likely to change along the way, you benefit from continuous support and an experienced perspective on the development of your goals over a period of six months.

Mentoring topics:

On the alma mentoring platform, you can choose a mentor based on your goals from two focus areas:

Career entry and career orientation
Self-employment and entrepreneurship

For both areas, mentors with a wide range of expertise and support offers are available to guide you.
